Friday night is party night at Cowal Highland Gathering

Fancy enjoying top class ceilidh music, a cask ale bar, whisky and gin tasting and a hog roast BBQ all on one night and in one place? If so, the new Gig at the Gathering, sponsored by Argyll Ferries, is the place to be on the evening of Friday, August 28.

Tickets for the Gig are already being snapped up, just hours after Cowal Highland Gathering (GHG) organisers unveiled details of the brand new event.

The Gig will be held in the Stadium’s Ceilidh Tent, and will feature world famous ceilidh band Skipinnish rocking the crowd with their Festival Set, ably supported by the ever-popular Heron Valley.

A hog roast BBQ will run throughout the night, with a Cask Ale bar provided by McEwan’s plus whisky and gin tasting provided by Argyll Vintners.

Cowal Highland Gathering chair Ronnie Cairns said: “The new Gig at the Gathering is going to be a fantastic opportunity to meet up with friends for a few drinks, a bite to eat and a brilliant evening of music.

“We’re expecting to welcome lots of people who only see each other once a year – on the last weekend in August in Dunoon – as well as plenty of people from the local area who are looking for a great night out.

“Tickets will be limited and we‘re anticipating they’ll be snapped up very quickly, so I’d recommend getting yours now so as to avoid disappointment nearer the time.”

’The Gig at the Gathering is absolutely brand new and promises to be a great event,’ said Argyll Ferries’ Area Operations Manager, Simon Richmond. ’Argyll Ferries is proud to take centre stage as prime sponsor. Our two boats - the Argyll Flyer and the Ali Cat - are ready to make sure that eager revellers have no excuse for missing out on a fantastic night of music, food and fun.

’It takes around an hour and a half to jump on a train from Glasgow Central and arrive in Dunoon fresh and ready to party - the ferry crossing is a quick 25 minute hop from Gourock’s pier, which is right beside the station. It couldn’t be easier and it made perfect sense to us to throw our backing behind this new addition to the world-famous Cowal Gathering, at the same time bringing more visitors to beautiful Dunoon. I’m sure it will become a firm favourite in the line-up.’

Ticket prices are £10 for an adult and £5 for 5 – 16 years. Any under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult.

This year’s Cowal Highland Gathering runs from Thursday 27 to Saturday 29 August.
