Tickets on sale as Cowal Highland Gathering reveal fourth Gig at the Gathering line up!

With the hottest gig of summer just over six months away, Cowal Highland Gathering (CHG) has revealed the line up for its fourth Friday night gig.

And what a line up it is, with one of Scotland’s top ceilidh bands headlining and, for the first time, an international band hitting the stage to entertain the gig goers.

The Gig at the Gathering burst onto the scene in 2015 and has been a firm fixture to the CHG weekend ever since. It has attracted some of Scotland’s best-known bands, and this year is no exception. With tickets going on sale from the Gathering’s website on Thursday 1 March, organisers are predicting another sell out event.

The Gig at the Gathering will once again be held in the Stadium’s Ceilidh Tent, and will be headlined by 2016 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Award winners Trail West. Having recently wowed audiences in Singapore, Trail West will be showcasing their brand new six-piece line-up.

They are supported by up and coming band Beinn Lee, a six-piece band from Uist in the Outer Hebrides and, with members from Canada and the US, The American Rogues. This band are no strangers to the American Highland Games circuit and promise to get this year’s Gig at the Gathering off to a riotous start.

Tickets for last year’s event were snapped up within hours of going on sale and Cowal Highland Gathering chair Ronnie Cairns is confident this year’s line-up will pull in the crowds again.

“When we introduced the Gig at the Gathering three years ago, we had no way of knowing it would become such a big part of the Gathering offering,” he said.

“The Gig has grown year on year and with a great atmosphere outstanding music and fabulous food and drink, this is the best way to get fired up for the Gathering’s famous Saturday entertainments.

“We’re expecting many of the people who have joined us over the last three years to secure their tickets as soon as they go on sale. But, with the Gig selling out every year, we expect lots of people who weren’t lucky enough to have been with us last year not to want to miss out again.

“Gig at the Gathering tickets are limited, so I would recommend anyone who wants to book their place at one of the best nights out of the year buys theirs as soon as they go on sale to avoid disappointment.”

This year’s Cowal Highland Gathering runs from Thursday 23 – Saturday 25 August.
