If you want to see some of the very best pipe bands in the world on a truly spectacular scale, then the Cowal Highland Gathering is for you.
We’re home to the historic Cowal Pipe Band Championship, first held here in 1906, now one of five major championships taking place during the piping season. The climax of the event sees the 130+ pipe bands get together and salute the Chieftain – the largest gathering of its kind in Europe. The sight and sound of 3,000 pipers and drummers playing ‘Highland Laddie’ in unison is an unforgettable experience. The bands then march through town, displaying their trophies to the cheering crowds.
