.This year because of a clash of dates with the Northern Meeting in Inverness, which impacted on our ability to secure a senior judging panel, we will not be holding a senior piping competition at the Cowal Gathering.
The Juvenile competitions and the Burgh Cup will go ahead as normal and be held on the top field of the stadium.

JUVENILE EVENTS
Event I - Open Juvenile Piobaireachd aged 17 and under
Event K - Open Juvenile March, Strathspey and reel aged 17 and under.
The Juvenile events above are expected to begin around 11am.
All events and registration will be on the top field.
Exact timings will be confirmed after the closing date for entries.
Event L - Local Juvenile March age 15 and under from Argyll and Bute
Event M - Local Juvenile Strathspey and Reel aged 15 and under from Argyll and Bute
Events L and M will take place in the lower field and are expected to start around mid morning.
Event N - Novice Juvenile Piping Competition
For Novice Juvenile graded pipers. Please note that the geographical restrictions have been removed from this event and entries are now open to all novice juvenile pipers.
Novice Juvenile pipers who have competed in any competition as a juvenile piper are not eligible to enter this competition.
Event G - Burgh Cup - Local March, Strathspey and Reel confined to those aged 16 years or over and born or resident in Argyll and Bute.
**Please note - Previous winners of the Burgh Cup are welcome to re-enter this competition**

The cream of bagpiping’s up and coming talent will be enjoying the limelight in the Cowal Highland Gathering’s solo competitions this year.
The senior events are taking a break from the schedule due to a clash of dates with the Northern Meeting in Inverness, leaving the coast clear for the younger generations to wow the crowds.
One of the biggest draws, as always, is likely to be the Burgh Cup (March, Strathspey and Reels) competition. It is restricted to pipers aged 16 or over who were either born in the Argyll and Bute area or have been resident here for six months prior to the date of the competition.
In addition, the juvenile competitions will consist of an open competition for pipers aged 17 and under and a competition for pipers from Argyll and Bute aged 15 and under. There will also be an open novice junior competition.
All the above events will take place in the Gathering stadium on Friday, August 30 2019.
This year’s Cowal Highland Gathering runs from Thursday 29 to Saturday 31 August.
