2016 Gig at the Gathering tickets on sale now!

Tickets for ceilidh music’s most exciting new event were launched today – with many expected to be snapped up as Christmas gifts.

Cowal Highland Gathering’s inaugural ‘Gig at the Gathering’ was so successful this year that the organisers have wasted no time in once again signing up some of the country’s best bands for the 2016 event.

The first ever Gig sold out well before the Gathering kicked off, so the decision has been taken to launch the tickets now to ensure that locals and visitors alike can guarantee their spot in the audience.

Organisers expect tickets to sell fast once again – particularly given the line up of top class entertainment on offer.

World famous ceilidh band Skipinnish – who had the crowd rocking from their very first note to the very last this summer - will be back by popular demand to headline next year’s Gig.

They’ll be supported during the four-hour extravaganza by ever-popular local band Heron Valley, as well as Trail West from Tiree, winners of the 2013 Scottish Dance Band of the Year.

Cowal Highland Gathering chair Ronnie Cairns said: “The feedback from the first ever Gig in August was overwhelmingly positive, and we wanted to finalise arrangements for next year’s event as soon as possible.

“The Gig is a fantastic night out, whether you’re local to the area or whether you’re visiting for the Gathering. It’s not just music on offer either – this year it also boasted a cask ale bar, whisky and gin tasting and a hog roast BBQ throughout the evening, and we’re planning something similar next time around.

“I’m delighted we’re able to launch the tickets in time for Christmas. We’re anticipating that they’ll prove a popular gift in the Cowal area and beyond, so I’d recommend that people buy theirs now so as to avoid disappointment nearer the time.”

Tickets for the Gig - which will take place on Friday, August 26 2016 in the Gathering’s Ceilidh Tent – are £15 for adults and £7.50 for children (aged 5-16). All children must be accompanied by an adult.

The gates will open at 6.30pm with the first band due to kick off half an hour later. The event will finish at 11pm.

Next year’s Cowal Highland Gathering runs from Thursday 25 to Saturday 27 August.
