2019 Gig at the Gathering tickets on sale now!

Tickets are now on sale for Cowal Highland Gathering’s flagship Friday night gig, which is back bigger and better than ever, with an exciting line-up and new headline sponsor.

Once again, Cowal Highland Gathering’s annual ‘Gig at the Gathering’ will showcase some of Scotland’s most exciting traditional musicians.

And this year the Gig - which has sold out in each of the four years since its launch - is boasting a major new sponsor.

Belhaven Brewery has signed up to back the four-hour extravaganza, which takes place on the Friday evening of the CHG weekend and which has quickly established itself as one of the highlights of Scotland’s most celebrated Highland Games.

Traditional music lovers will be excited to hear that the 2019 line up sees Gig regulars and firm crowd favourites, local Argyll band Heron Valley, step up to headline the evening.

The six-piece band, which began life in Strachur when most of its members were still at school, has won fans worldwide with its energetic brand of music featuring fiddle, accordion, pipes, whistles, guitar, piano, vocals, bass and drums.

Supporting Heron Valley will be two other high-octane performers – Beinn Lee, from Uist in the Outer Hebrides, which had the Gig crowd rocking last year and is back by popular demand and Glasgow group Headland, which is making its first appearance at the event and which merges traditional Scottish music with its members’ pop/country roots.

Cowal Highland Gathering chair Ronnie Cairns said the Gig has fast become one of the hottest tickets on the traditional music scene – not just for the crowd, but for the performers too.
“It’s been fantastic to see how popular it is with everyone involved – from the crowds to the bands to the many people who work behind the scenes to make it what it is,” he added.

“This year we’re delighted to be able to announce not just our stellar line up of bands, but also our new partnership with Belhaven Brewery, which is the icing on the cake in terms of having everything in place for another knockout event.

“The Gig is a great night out, whether you’re local to the area or whether you’re visiting for the Gathering. Tickets are always in high demand, so I’d recommend that people secure theirs sooner rather than later so as to avoid disappointment nearer the time”.

Gordon Muir, Marketing Controller at Belhaven Brewery, said “In just four years, the Gig at the Gathering has established itself as one of the highlights of the Scottish traditional music calendar.

“We’re very excited to be part of it this year, and look forward to working with the organisers over the next few months to ensure it’s the best night out it can possibly be.”

Tickets for the Gig - which will take place on Friday, August 30 2019 in the Gathering’s Ceilidh Tent are on sale now with early bird tickets at £20 and all other tickets priced at £22.

The gates will open at 6.30pm with the first band due to kick off half an hour later. The event will finish at 11pm.

This year’s Cowal Highland Gathering runs from Thursday 29 to Saturday 31 August.
